Dear Friends, A few years ago my wife and I were hiking on Bright Angel Trail in the Grand Canyon. During the hike we met two other hikers coming from the other direction. Both our groups stopped to take a break in the shade and share “where are you from” stories. The funny thing was that the other two hikers knew of Prince William Forest Park and that is where all of us started our outdoor adventures. I told them about the time my family was picnicking at Pine Grove and I went on my first hike on Loral Loop by myself. The adventure of finding out what is around the next bend had begun. I was 8 then and the park became the birth place of my love for the outdoors. No matter where I go, whether it is mountain biking in the Rockies, hiking up Glacier Point to look at Half Dome or snorkeling at Saint Johns Bay, it all started in this park. It may seem small when compared to other National Parks, but it carries so much importance to me and I hope it will carry importance to you too. Prince William Forest Park is a place where we can come to get away from the worries and the rush of daily life. A place to share with our families. A place to rediscover ourselves. This is why I am a Friend of the park.
