Exclusive Walk Down Tour of the Washington Monument
Sunday, October 21, 2007
Friends of Prince William Forest Park went on a behind-the-scenes, walk down tour of the Washington Monument guided by Ranger Kristi Thiel and VIP Bill Harris. They were able to see a side of the monument most people don’t even know exists.
After the 896 step decent down the monument, the group of 19 walked through the Mall via the WWII Memorial to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. VIP Harris gave a moving interpretation of the memorial wall. Friends member Charles Karpowicz also gave the group a short talk about the dams and levees throughout the Potomac Basin.

Chopawamsic Cycle Challenge
Sunday, September 9, 2007
Over 60 volunteers and participants supported the annual Chopawamsic Cycle Challenge, raising over $600 in donations. The challenge supports a variety of programs in the Park, including the future single track mountain biking trail near Pine Grove.
Participants enjoyed riding across the park on the 11 mile route, and were welcomed back at the finish with complementary burgers, hot dogs, and, of course, the famous “scud” fries, donated by Trips For Kids and prepared by Scott Scudamore of MORE.
Please join us next year on September 14th for this exciting annual event!
